Continues expansion of machine learning analytics platform across major industries; Ephesoft CEO Don Field to retire, continue as Board Member

Laguna Hills, Calif. – Dec. 6, 2017 – Ephesoft, Inc., a leader in document capture and analytics solutions, today announced that Ike Kavas, Ephesoft founder and chief technology officer, will become chief executive officer replacing retiring CEO Don Field effective December 15. With machine learning pioneer Kavas leading the company, Ephesoft will expand its mission and transformation of the document capture industry by turning the world’s unstructured content into actionable data for compliance, security, research, marketing and efficiency.

“In less than seven years, we have transformed an under-innovated industry through machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies to deliver the most advanced, web-based, SaaS platform that enables a broad range of industries to not only capture but also extract vital intelligence from previously unstructured and idled content,” said Kavas. “I look forward with excitement to my expanded role in the company’s day-to-day operations as we grow our channel partnerships, introduce new products for new markets and incorporate new technologies to make it possible to convert virtually every piece of unstructured data into useful insight.”

As founder of Ephesoft, Kavas has implemented several industry firsts including patented multi-dimensional document classification and extraction techniques, a machine learning analytics platform for analyzing unstructured content and subscription-based document capture services. By moving document capture to the cloud, Ephesoft has created an open ecosystem powered by Web Services APIs that enables intelligent document capture functionality to be easily embedded into other standard business process and software applications commonly used by customers.

Kavas has been a champion of technology companies adopting innovation-first ideology in order to stay relevant year after year, which underpins the fundamental idea behind Ephesoft’s subscription model. Ephesoft technology eliminates the need for manual data entry, reduces errors that occur during document processing and increases overall productivity, impacting a range of vital services from invoicing, insurance claims and automated mortgage processing to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) solutions required by the European Union to meet the new data protection requirements. Prior to founding Ephesoft, Kavas spent several years in senior architecture roles at Kofax. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anadolu Üniversity in Turkey.

“As a 35-year veteran of the document capture industry, Don Field’s leadership and experience have been invaluable assets both personally and to Ephesoft throughout our growth from a startup to a formidable industry leader,” said Kavas. “We are grateful Don will continue to serve on our board as we embark on our next chapter.”

Field joined Ephesoft as CEO in March 2011. During his tenure, the company energized and disrupted the document capture industry by introducing open source concepts to the intelligent capture market, new development platforms and pricing models. With Field at the helm, Ephesoft earned a listing on the Inc. 500 company by growing 1132 percent over a three-year period. Prior to Ephesoft, for over two decades Field held executive positions with Kofax, an industry leader in document capture.
